Volume of a Spherical Cap

1/3πh² (3r - h)

Where:
r = radius of the cap
h = height of the cap

A spherical cap is a portion of a sphere that lies above or below one of its planes. If the plane lies on the center of the sphere, the cap is called a hemisphere (a hemisphere is one equal half of a sphere. For example, the north hemisphere of the earth extends from the equator to its very top point.)

The volume of a spherical cap tells how much space it occupies.

To use our calculator, enter the height of the spherical cap and its radius in their respective boxes and press "Find the Volume."
